How to reduce stress

Did you know that there is a national stress awareness day in 2024? It falls on November 7 and many companies will be holding a variety of health awareness events to raise the profile about stress at the workplace, recognising symptoms of stress and how to manage stress more effectively.

Stress is one of the major reasons why staff are absent from work, and it has, as a consequence, become a key focus for companies to take a proactive response in how to relieve stress and how to learn stress management techniques.

Stress at work manifests itself in many ways and is often demonstrated in a fight or flight situation. The result is that we may end up in an angry, confrontational situation (fight) which may evoke future anxiety, depression, etc. Or we might “flee” – in that we literally run away from the situation or put our heads in the sand. This may be demonstrated by social withdrawal, substance misuse, surfing on the net, etc.

  • The body undergoes many physiological symptoms of stress during this process, including increased heart beat, increased blood pressure, sweaty palms, an increase in adrenaline, and pupils dilation. If the body continually experiences this, then this is when the symptoms of stress begin to impact your mind and body.

At One offers stress management training, where you will begin to better understand workplace stress, recognise the signs of stress, and learn practical tips on managing and reducing stress. Our stress awareness training for national stress awareness day is a great opportunity for you to learn hands-on, with lots of advice on coping with stress from a practical perspective.

Stress at the workplace is inevitable. However, by learning how to deal with it more effectively, we will help you and your staff manage stress positively and actively.
